Ms. Strader's classes participated in the Community Action Poverty Simulation last week. This learning tool has been created as a way to help people understand the realities of poverty.
Students have the stressful task of providing for basic necessities and shelter on a limited budget during the course of 15-minute "weeks". They interact with human service agencies, grocers, pawnbrokers, bill collectors, ob interviewers, police officers and others. This is always an extremely eye-opening activity for our students.
Thank you to all of the volunteers who help with this experience!

The Roncalli Royal Boys Basketball Staff is excited to announce that we will be hosting Royal Basketball Training Sessions on six Sunday evenings this fall.
Come work on your skills with Royal coaches and players and get ready for your CYO season.
The training sessions are on September 12, 19, 26 and October 3, 17 and 24. The sessions are open to young men currently in grades 4th-8th. 4th, 5th, and 6th graders will go from 6-7 PM, while 7th and 8th graders will go from 7-8 PM. We hope this is late enough for football games to be done for the day. These sessions will all be SKILL sessions and NO scrimmaging so there is no worry about injury if your son is currently in a fall sport.
The cost is $10 per session, or you can sign up for all six sessions for $50. This deal will only be available if you pay the $50 the first night, September 12th. A local college is offering the same type of training on six Sunday evenings this fall and asking for almost $200! There is no doubt this is the best deal you will find around. The Royal coaches will work on age specific skills that your son needs to master to be successful at his level.
If you have any questions, please contact Mike Wantz! We hope to see you there each Sunday night. Please enter Door #15, which is the main entrance (west side) of the ASV Gymnasium!
