Kevin Atlas was the first division one college basketball player to play with one arm. Since graduating, Kevin has dedicated much of his professional life speaking to thousands of high school kids, using his personal stories of challenge and perseverance to connect with students.
We were honored to host Kevin on Friday, August 27th. He spoke of empathy, grit, habits and the value each member of the Royal family brings to Roncalli. Our students experienced a wide array of emotions and thanked Kevin with a standing ovation!
Thank you, Kevin Atlas!

A letter was mailed out two weeks ago to the parents of all of our current freshmen informing them of a requirement to attend one of our Required Freshman Parent meetings taking place this fall. This required freshman parent meeting was instituted ten years ago primarily as a means to try and establish or insure some “common ground” between our parents as primary educators and Roncalli as secondary educators. The meetings have received positive reviews from parents. The first of four of these meetings was held yesterday.
There are two more opportunities for parents to attend one of these meetings. The dates are: September 9 and September 22. The meetings begin at 7:00 PM in the school’s auditorium.
NOTE: Parents who have had a freshman student previously at Roncalli are not required to attend one of these meetings. Failure to attend one of these meetings will result in the student not being allowed to stay at Roncalli for the second semester of the school year.
Please direct all questions to our Dean of Students, Tim Crissman, at 787-8277, extension 223.
On Monday, August 30, a member of the STANDUp team presented valuable information to all students in their Theology classes. This team is made up of administrators, counselors, teachers and our school social worker. The team seeks to identify students experiencing physical, social, emotional or spiritual difficulties and to remove the barriers which interfere with learning. The goal is to empower these students to experience the same opportunities for growth and development that God intends for all young people. For more information, click here.
The Roncalli Royal Boys Basketball Staff is excited to announce that we will be hosting Royal Basketball Training Sessions on six Sunday evenings this fall.
Come work on your skills with Royal coaches and players and get ready for your CYO season.
The training sessions are on September 12, 19, 26 and October 3, 17 and 24. The sessions are open to young men currently in grades 4th-8th. 4th, 5th, and 6th graders will go from 6-7 PM, while 7th and 8th graders will go from 7-8 PM. We hope this is late enough for football games to be done for the day. These sessions will all be SKILL sessions and NO scrimmaging so there is no worry about injury if your son is currently in a fall sport.
The cost is $10 per session, or you can sign up for all six sessions for $50. This deal will only be available if you pay the $50 the first night, September 12th. A local college is offering the same type of training on six Sunday evenings this fall and asking for almost $200! There is no doubt this is the best deal you will find around. The Royal coaches will work on age specific skills that your son needs to master to be successful at his level.
If you have any questions, please contact Mike Wantz! We hope to see you there each Sunday night. Please enter Door #15, which is the main entrance (west side) of the ASV Gymnasium!
Stay up-to-date with this year’s school calendar.
The Roncalli Swimming and Diving Team is looking for students who are interested in swimming or diving this upcoming season. Currently, our boys and girls rosters have open spots. If anyone is interested or has any questions please contact coach Curtis Cox. The swimming and diving program has seen a lot of success over the last few years, including winning 7 conference championships in the last 5 years. Parents: Roncalli's swim team is consistently one of the higher performing varsity sports in academics, due to our emphasis on time management skills. We welcome anyone to join. No previous experience is necessary.
Students who have been involved in the performing arts program for at least two years are invited to be included in this year’s Performing Arts Book. Forms have been passed out in performing arts classes. If your senior does not have a performing arts class this year, they may stop by the Box Office to pick up a form. Completed forms need to be returned to Mrs. Lewinski in the Box Office by September 3. Pictures for the book will be taken Wednesday, September 8.
The Roncalli Performing Arts is currently selling ads for the Roncalli 2021-22 Performing Arts Book. The Performing Arts Book is distributed at all major fine arts performances and concerts and features pictures of our seniors in the performing arts program as well as pictures of the many different performing arts ensembles and groups.
Ad prices are as Follows:
The purchase of a half page or larger ad will also entitle the purchaser to a VIP Card. VIP cards are good for free admittance for the card holder and 3 guests (4 total) to home sporting events ( This does not include County or IHSAA tournament events). Guests must be present with the card holder and must pick up tickets at the main ticket gate. In addition, VIP members are entitled to 4 free tickets to one performance of each of the performing arts productions (fall musical, Christmas band concert, Christmas choral concert, spring play, spring band concert and Pop’s concert) as well as early access to tickets.
The Roncalli Performing Arts Book Ad Campaign is the primary fundraiser for the Performing Arts Booster. All proceeds from the Performing Arts book campaign goes directly to support the Performing Arts at Roncalli.
All school cafeterias across the nation are in the midst of supply chain disruptions, and Roncalli’s cafeteria is no exception. The issues include transportation, processing, driver shortages and lack of employees in the distribution plants. In addition, more students are taking advantage of the USDA’s Free Breakfast and Lunch Programs. More mouths to feed = less product availability.
With that said, our students will see more and more menu options change in the coming weeks. The Café staff is working diligently to continue offering the students and staff the many options they are accustomed to, while maintaining our high standards of quality and nutrition.
If you have any questions regarding this matter, please email Food Service Director Jeff Richardson or call (317) 788-4099.
In an effort to better meet the needs of each student and the increasing enrollment trends, we have slightly adjusted the alphabet breakdown. Beginning Monday, August 16th all freshmen and sophomores with the last names S - Sch will now be assigned to Ms. Ellis (soon to be Mrs. Gomez). Juniors and seniors with the last names S - Sch will remain with Mrs. Engel.
Please feel free to reach out to your child’s counselor to introduce yourself, share anecdotes or concerns, offer insight, or ask questions!
We are three weeks into the 2021-22 School Year, and all students should have a barcoded Student ID at this point. The cafeteria is working with a touchless Point of Sale system that allows the students to scan their barcode for a more efficient and safe environment. However, many students are not bringing their Student ID’s to lunch, which is causing the café staff to key in ID numbers and slowing down the process.
Beginning Monday, if students forget or lose their ID’s, they will be prompted to visit the Cafeteria Office to pay for their lunch. A list of these students will then be sent to the Dean’s Office for review. If a student has lost their ID, it is recommended they visit the Main Office for a replacement. The cafeteria staff appreciates your attention to this matter.
There are still 2021 yearbooks available for purchase from the main office if your student would like one. They are $75 and checks should be made out to Roncalli High School.
All those who bought one and didn't pick it up yet were sent an email Wednesday. They can be picked up in the main office or in room 109. If you have a question please email Julie Albertson.
