(left to right) Bryce Lowery and Sam Peeples
Last weekend, the Roncalli wrestling team had two wrestlers advance to the state finals based on a top four finish in their weight classes at the New Castle Semi-State. Sophomore Bryce Lowery (126 pound class) and junior Sam Peeples (182 pound class) will represent Roncalli at state finals.
“Bryce and Sam both did a really good job of competing, with an emphasized effort towards putting points on the scoreboard on Saturday,” said Roncalli wrestling head coach Wade McClurg. “It has been a long and difficult season, and we are very grateful that we have two guys who have earned the opportunity to compete on the third weekend in February.”
Lowery, who finished second in the semi-state, will be making his second state finals appearance after finishing fourth last season in the 106 pound class. Peeples finished third in the semi-state and is making his first state finals appearance.
The state finals began Friday morning (February 19) at Bankers Life Fieldhouse at 11:00 AM for Lowery and the other wrestlers in weight classes 106 through 145. The wrestlers in weight classes 152 through 285, including Peeples, compete at 7:00 PM. The quarterfinal round begins on Saturday at 9:30 AM.
Good luck to our wrestling Royals!

22nd Annual RHS Athletics Cash Bash & Raffle Saturday, February 27, 2021 @ 8:00 PM
Presented by the Roncalli Athletic Booster Club

As part of this year’s Lenten Almsgiving Project, Roncalli’s Student Council has organized a canned food drive. Indianapolis is no stranger to those in our community who struggle to provide food for themselves and their families. In fact, our St. Vincent de Paul serves an average of 2,837 families per week. That’s about 10,000 people, many of whom are working families, that rely on food and monetary donations to feed their families every single week.
Roncalli has the opportunity to make an impact through our canned food drive at a time when donations are at their lowest levels. And because of St. Vincent de Paul’s benefactors, each dollar we donate will have $20 worth of impact. Those willing to donate $40 will actually be providing $800 of relief to families in need. On average, that can feed a family of 4 for 4-5 weeks! This year, we’ve set a goal for every student and staff member to donate at least $40 or 80 cans. For households with more than one student and/or staff member, the goal is at least $65 or 130 cans.
Students will be given this donation form to fill out prior to dropping off their donation. If they lose it, they can print a new copy. For students and staff attending school in-person, drop off in the main lobby from 7:00-7:30am on March 8-12. For fully-synchronous students or others in the Roncalli community, drop off in the main office during normal school hours (excluding afternoon of March 12) or send in with a classmate.
Students and staff who donate at least $40 or 80 cans will immediately receive a wristband that allows them to be out-of-uniform through March 12. Members of a household with more than one student and/or staff receive wristbands if they collectively donate at least $65 or 130 cans. Students and staff who donate less than $40 or 80 cans will receive their wristband in time to be out-of-uniform on March 12.
Students can find more information on the Canned Food Drive page of the Stu Co module on their Class of 20xx Canvas course.

A los padres/tutores: Vacunas para el año escolar 2021-22
The Indiana State Department of Health and Department of Education has mandatory immunizations for every student enrolled in an Indiana school. Roncalli High School must follow these requirements to stay in compliance; even if a physicians’ immunization and dosing schedules show more flexibility.

Also 2 Meningitis MCV4 vaccines are required for Class of 2022 prior to the start of their senior year.
If your child has not received these, please make arrangements to get these vaccines and forward proof of immunization. County Health Departments can assist with these vaccinations.
Documentation needs to be sent to the Guidance Office: fax 317-788-2282 or email email@example.com.

It could be seen as silly to talk about spring break and next year’s moratorium week but many of our families have to make travel arrangements well in advance for a variety of family related reasons. Spring Break will begin with the dismissal of school at 3:00 PM on Thursday, March 18. School will resume at 7:30 AM on Monday, March 29.
To maintain the integrity of the school calendar and instructional time, Roncalli does not allow a family to extend Spring Break by leaving early or returning late without a significant academic penalty. For full details on the policy, please click on the link at the end of the newsletter. Thank you to our parents who have given us tremendous support of this policy through the years.
Additionally, as a member of the Indiana High School Athletic Association, Roncalli High School must adhere to the moratorium week requirements set forth by the association. The 2021 Moratorium Week for the summer of 2021 will be from June 28 - July 5. At Roncalli this means there will be no open gym/no open facilities, no practices, games, rehearsals, etc. There are to be no student activities at all during this week.
