In August we opened the school year with a number of unknown variables one of which was how long everyone in the school building would be required to wear a face mask. Given that it is most likely the mask requirement will be with us through the end of the school year we are making a few adjustments to our face mask policy for the second semester.
The face mask is seen as a part of the required school uniform. As such our intent is to provide students with options while also having some uniformity. Beginning with the start of the second semester on Monday, January 18, 2021, and until further notice a student’s face mask must comply with one of the following options:
A student not in compliance with the face mask rule will be subject to a referral to the Dean’s Office similar to any other type of school uniform infraction.
The school’s main office will continue to supply masks for students who arrive at school without a mask or whose mask breaks during the school day.
Please direct any questions to our Dean of Students, Tim Crissman.
We appreciate everyone’s understanding and support as we move through these unprecedented times.
The first semester report cards will be distributed to students in their eighth period class on Tuesday, January 12 and Wednesday, January 13. Should you have any questions about a grade, please contact the classroom teacher first. Should questions still exist after that communication, please contact Mrs. Beth Reel , the Assistant Principal for Academics.
Auditions for the spring musical, “Newsies,” will be held Tuesday, January 12 and Wednesday, January 13. Sign up for an audition time here.
Audition and tech forms are available outside the box office. Completed tech forms are due Thursday, January 14 by 3:00 PM.
Audition music should be a musical theatre piece no longer than one minute. We will have an accompanist to play your sheet music or you can play a music track which you will need to provide. Please do not sing with the artist on the track… background music only. Any questions can be directed to Mr. Anderson, Mrs. Bohn or Mr. Newton.
On Wednesday, Roncalli announced that Maurice Schilten has been hired as the boys soccer coach and Lacey Hersman has been hired as the girls soccer coach.
Schilten has spent the previous seven seasons as Roncalli’s girls head soccer coach. He won 66 matches and three sectional titles, including a 3A sectional title in 2020. His 2020 team posted a 10-7-1 record in addition to winning the sectional. In 2015, the team won a program-record 17 matches and won a sectional title.
“Maurice Schilten has a wealth of coaching and playing experience, which will help guide our boys soccer program,” said Roncalli athletic director David Lauck. “We are excited for him to continue to contribute to our athletic department.”
Hersman takes over the girls soccer program after serving four seasons as an assistant coach in the program. Prior to coming to Roncalli, she spent five seasons as the head girls soccer coach at Marquette Catholic High School. She left the school as the program’s winningest coach and led the team to the best record in program history.
“Lacey Hersman has been a valuable assistant in the girls soccer program for the last four seasons,” said Roncalli athletic director David Lauck. “She is also a very talented teacher in Roncalli’s math department. With her presence in the building as a teacher, combined with her coaching experience, we are excited for her to lead our girls soccer program.”
Nothing can replace an in-person campus tour, but these images are the next best thing. See some of the highlights tour guides share on their guided campus tours and check out Roncalli academic facilities.
This week's My Story, R Family video comes to us from Roncalli graduate, Bailey Ransburg R'15. Bailey's story is a neat one because she did not start with us at RHS for her high school career. She chose to join us after her freshman year, and we are so glad she did! We are blessed to have her as part of our Roncalli family!
