Congratulations to Coach Jennifer Riedford and the Roncalli Spell Bowl team who are State Champions placing 1st in their class! They competed against a total of 26 teams in the state, seven of which advanced to the state competition. Junior Sam Sering spelled a perfect round with a total of 12/12 points. Two spellers, sophomore Bryce Lowery and senior Drew Reed, earned near perfect ribbons with 11/12 points. Roncalli has not placed first in the State Spell Bowl Competition since 1986. Roncalli is so proud of our Spell Bowl Team!

This week marks the midway point of the second nine weeks grading period. Teachers have been asked to have their gradebooks updated. This is an excellent time for parents and students to review all of the student's work to date for this second nine weeks. There is still ample time for a student to remedy any grade issues that exist before the quarter ends. Parents, please do not hesitate to reach out to a teacher if you have any questions or concerns about a grade and/or desire to speak with the teacher about your child and their performance in the class.

FALL & SPRING BREAK (2021-2022)

School policy does not provide for any extension of fall break or spring break. No student will be excused from school for travel the day before or the day after fall or spring break. Any student absence for travel reasons on these days will be considered unexcused. The day preceding and the day immediately following fall and spring break will be marked double unexcused days. A double unexcused day means that four points will be deducted from the student's cumulative grade in each class at the end of that grading period. Teachers are not required to make special provisions for students who are unexcused. Students absent because of illness on the day preceding and/or the day immediately following fall or spring break will be required to bring a doctor’s note to the Attendance Officer upon their return to school. Students are not allowed to take a college day or job shadow day on the day preceding and/or the day immediately following fall or spring break without prior administrative approval.

Roncalli High School annually has alumni who like to stop by their alma mater during the school day to visit with teachers and/or with younger siblings who are still students at Roncalli. This happens most frequently when the college-aged alumni are home on break (fall break, Thanksgiving, Christmas, spring break). We enjoy having our graduates back on campus with us! Unfortunately, this year we will not be allowing alumni to visit during the school day due to the Covid-19 restrictions that are in place for our school. We appreciate everyone’s understanding and look forward to being able to welcome alumni back to Roncalli in the future!

Roncalli is excited to welcome the Class of 2025 next fall! As a reminder, the Application for Admission is now available here. Once the application is complete and the $100 registration fee is received, you may continue the registration process. For those who have not been in a South Deanery Catholic grade school for grades seven and eight, those next steps will include scheduling an admissions interview for Saturday, January 9 (limited space available). For all others, it will be scheduling your appointment to meet with your student's counselor to create their freshman year schedule. Please email or call Director of Admissions Allie Ross at (317) 787-8277, ext. 243 with any questions.

Friday, January 15, 2021 - Our annual Faculty Day of Reflection which typically is held the day before school starts in August was postponed this year so that teachers would have more time to prepare for the synchronous learning model that has served our students so well. This day is a critical day of faith formation and reflection for our teachers which assists them in being more actively and passionately linked to their mission as ministers of the faith. We have scheduled this day for Friday, January 15, 2021. There will be no school for students on this day.

Our students are doing an outstanding job of providing much needed service to those in need. Please do not forget that 18 service hours are due on Monday, December 7.

With the COVID19 still challenging all of our families, we offer the following suggestions in regards to the logging of service hours:

  • Please make certain to get an accurate email from the adult supervisor. If they do not verify the hours within 7 days, students can edit the service log and use their parent's email for verification.
  • While not required, it would be very helpful to provide as many other forms of verification as possible. The more ways students provide to verify their hours, the easier it is to ultimately have those hours approved. Four verifications are better than one, so please consider getting a signature on your phone (if it is safe to do so), take a picture of you in action on the service project and include the geo-location.

Great job so far… let’s keep the momentum going!
