Moving forward, Roncalli is going to use the hybrid model for the four days of next week with our A-K students in person on Tuesday, September 8 and Thursday, September 10, and the L-Z students in person on Wednesday, September 9 and Friday, September 11. We will then continue using the hybrid schedule until further notice while continuing to work diligently on getting all students back for in person instruction as quickly as possible. However, in an effort to be attentive to the needs of all of our students, parents who feel their child is struggling academically, socially, emotionally and/or spiritually in the hybrid schedule may now petition the school asking that their child be allowed to attend school in person on a daily basis! Parents interested in pursuing this opportunity for their child should click on and complete this application and submit it no later than 5 PM on Wednesday, September 9. Those students whose application is approved would begin attending school in person on a daily basis on Monday, September 14.

A letter was mailed out a week ago to the parents of all of our current freshmen informing them of a requirement to attend one of our Required Freshman Parent meetings taking place this fall. This required freshman parent meeting was instituted 11 years ago, primarily as a means to try and establish or insure some “common ground” between our parents as primary educators and Roncalli as secondary educators. The meetings have received positive reviews from parents.

There are three more opportunities for parents to attend one of these meetings. The dates are: September 9, 15 and 29. The meetings begin at 7:00 PM in the school’s auditorium.

NOTE: Parents who have had a freshman student previously at Roncalli are NOT required to attend one of these meetings. Failure to attend one of these meetings will result in the student not being allowed to stay at Roncalli for the second semester of the school year.

Please direct all questions to principal, Chuck Weisenbach, (317) 787-8277, extension 224.

Picture retakes will be on Tuesday, October 6th in the morning. Any student who did not get their picture taken on the first day of school, we need to have their picture taken on this day. In addition, anyone who is doing a picture retake, must bring back their picture packet. Students who are getting their picture taken can be out of uniform, but shorts, jeans or inappropriate clothing are not allowed. Please contact Kevin Banich, Assistant Principal for Student Life.

The first quarter’s midway point is Friday, September 4. This is a great time to check on your child’s course percentages. With a parent Canvas account, a “View Grades” link displays each course grade. Canvas provides parent access on literally any device!

Learn More

Website access starts at the link shown here. It does not start at the Username field unless you already have an account.

Pictured to the right is the Canvas Parent app for mobile devices.

Regardless of using the website or the mobile app, a pairing code is required during sign up. Read on to learn how to obtain this code.

Please click link to “instructions.”

Before you begin setting up your parent Canvas account, ask your child for a pairing code. It is accessed within the student’s profile, under settings. The code, valid for 24 hours, is generated immediately upon clicking the words, Pair with Observer.

The Indiana State Department of Health has provided guidelines to help parents screen their child for symptoms related to COVID-19. Should you find that your child has one or more of the symptoms, please keep your child home. Please call the school and let us know of the current conditions. The school will follow up with each symptomatic student's parents with regards to return to school protocols. It is highly recommended as well that you contact your health care provider to discuss your child's health situation. Should you have questions related to COVID-19 matters please contact Tim Crissman, Dean of Students.

Calling all creative high school students, this year's theme is “Walk Hard. Play Hard. Pray Hard.” Congratulations to McKenzie Liegibel who came up with this year’s theme.

We are asking students to submit their creative t-shirt design ideas for a chance to win $50! If you have an artistic student, encourage them to submit artwork for the official t-shirt by Wednesday, September 16 at 4 PM. Questions can be directed to Jeen Endris in the Advancement Office.

This year’s Walkathon is Friday, October 30th. The Walkathon is the only all school fundraiser in which Roncalli students are asked to participate. Every dollar raised through Walkathon funds provides needs-based tuition assistance for Roncalli families.

What a great start in Community Service! Our students are doing an outstanding job so far, and we look forward to all the ways that Roncalli students will continue to serve those in need.

A few reminders: Students can count up to 8 hours toward the first semester from the summer. If any student has completed hours from the summer and have not yet entered them, they must make sure that the "category" listed on the MobileServe app is summer hours and the date of service reflects a June or July date.

First Quarter hours will be due on Monday September 28. We ask all students to have nine hours completed by this date.

Learn More

Semester hours will be due on Monday December 7. We ask our students to have completed 18 hours by this date.

The new number for the Class of 2021 to receive a service cord is 216 (this is down from the past goal of 234 hours).

We still have the "Service Wall of Fame" which lists all students who have completed 400 or more hours during their high school career. These plaques hang outside Mr. Striby's office in the cafeteria.

Great job so far! Keep those hours coming!

Please take a moment to read the information at the link below and feel free to contact Mr. Striby with any questions or concerns.

Community Service Update

Roncalli offers a comprehensive Corporate Sponsor program that supports our students in several exciting ways, including tuition assistance and broadcasting opportunities. There are many benefits in sponsoring and supporting Roncalli. Your company will be exposed to other like-minded businesses that also support Roncalli. Almost 1,100 students, 125 faculty and staff, an alumni base of over 13,500 and thousands of Roncalli parents, relatives and friends will have an opportunity to see your business ad at some point during the school year. Our newest opportunity will include signage opportunities in the Ascension St. Vincent Gymnasium. Space will be limited so if your business is interested in supporting Roncalli through Walkathon, Roncalli Media Network, Homecoming, Fall Sports, Rebel 5ive podcast, Rebelation or brand new opportunities in Roncalli’s newest multiple use facility, Ascension St. Vincent Gymnasium, please email Gary Armbruster or call him at 317-525-7046.

Roncalli's Cafeteria is looking for employees that have the best interests of our students at their heart! Our cafeteria team is a family with a mission to provide the best possible food for our students. We are a faith filled, welcoming group that is looking for new members to carry the torch of good nutrition. These paid positions fit perfectly into a school parents day. PLEASE call us for more information. What a great way to serve your community! Thank you for your consideration! Email Jeff Richardson or call 317-788-4099.

The Department of Transportation has begun work on the roundabout at Sherman Drive and Thompson Road, which limits access to Roncalli from the east. However, Thompson Road remains open to access Roncalli from the west. This construction/closure has created additional traffic congestion on McFarland Road and the south entrance to our campus. Families from St. Mark, St. Barnabas, Ss. Francis & Clare are strongly encouraged to use Madison Avenue, US 31, Meridian Street, or State Road 37/465 to access Thompson Road and come in the north entrance of our campus. There is minimal traffic using the north entrance so this will alleviate some stress and expedite your trip by using the north entrance.
