We are so very grateful that we were able to gather as a school community on Thursday (L-Z students) and Friday (A-K students) to celebrate mass together! Nothing we do as a school compares to the importance of gathering together as a faith community to celebrate Christ and the Eucharist! A big thank you to Fr. Bob Robeson (Interim President), Fr. Doug Hunter (Chaplain Coordinator), Jeff Traylor (Director of Campus Ministry) and all of our students, faculty and staff for their efforts in making these liturgies possible! COVID-19 cannot and will not stop us from coming together to pray and to worship as a school!
Roncalli is looking forward to the return to school for all students on Tuesday, September 8.
Last week, Roncalli received a generous donation from the American Legion Post #355 at 7610 S. Meridian Street, Indianapolis. Commander Ed McDuffee presented the donation check to Principal Weisenbach. The donation will provide needs-based tuition assistance.
Mr. Weisenbach shared, “We are very grateful to all the members of American Legion Post #355 for their generous contribution. The need for financial assistance has never been greater due to families being impacted financially by COVID-19 so their support is very timely and will be put to great use. We appreciate the years of support they have provided our school.”

In our observations throughout the first two weeks of school, we have recognized that some of our students are experiencing significant struggles in their mathematics course. This is especially true for our freshmen as they adjust to high school.
To support these students, the Math Department will begin mandatory office hours for students in Algebra 1 CP with grades of a D+ or lower. Students will be required to attend at least 2 office hours per week with their math teacher. The mandatory attendance of office hours will begin Monday, August 31 and will continue throughout the remainder of the first quarter.
All teachers currently hold office hours each morning from 7:15 AM - 7:45 AM and afternoons Monday through Thursday from 2:30 PM - 3:15 PM.
Please refer to the email that was sent home earlier this week for more information or contact your student's Algebra 1 CP teacher or their school counselor.
Picture retakes will be on Tuesday, October 6th in the morning. Any student who did not get their picture taken on the first day of school, we need to have their picture taken on this day. In addition, anyone who is doing a picture retake, must bring back their picture packet. Students who are getting their picture taken can be out of uniform, but shorts, jeans or inappropriate clothing are not allowed. Please contact Kevin Banich, Assistant Principal for Student Life.
The first quarter’s midway point is Friday, September 4. This is a great time to check on your child’s course percentages. With a parent Canvas account, a “View Grades” link displays each course grade. Canvas provides parent access on literally any device!
Website access starts at the link shown here. It does not start at the Username field unless you already have an account.
Pictured to the right is the Canvas Parent app for mobile devices.
Regardless of using the website or the mobile app, a pairing code is required during sign up. Read on to learn how to obtain this code.
Please click link to “instructions.”
Before you begin setting up your parent Canvas account, ask your child for a pairing code. It is accessed within the student’s profile, under settings. The code, valid for 24 hours, is generated immediately upon clicking the words, Pair with Observer.
The Indiana State Department of Health has provided guidelines to help parents screen their child for symptoms related to COVID-19. Should you find that your child has one or more of the symptoms, please keep your child home. Please call the school and let us know of the current conditions. The school will follow up with each symptomatic student's parents with regards to return to school protocols. It is highly recommended as well that you contact your health care provider to discuss your child's health situation. Should you have questions related to COVID-19 matters please contact Tim Crissman, Dean of Students.

Forms have been passed out in performing arts classes. If your senior does not have a performing arts class this year, they may stop by the Box Office to pick up a form. Completed forms need to be returned to Mrs. Lewinski in the Box Office by Sept. 4.
We are extremely excited and thrilled to see so many of our Roncalli students already completing so many service hours. With our new service requirements, we are especially proud of the students who are creatively finding ways to serve those in need in their communities.
Please remember that there are no HOPE requirements for this semester, but we are still asking our students to complete 18 hours of Community Service by the end of the semester, nine of which are due on September 28.
While we will continue to promote service opportunities in the Roncalli Google Calendars and through the MobileServe app, there are simply not nearly as many organizations who are seeking our help right now, due to the COVID 19 virus. We are working hard on our end to find ways to help these organizations, while ensuring the safety of all involved. Please be looking for these new opportunities in the weeks ahead.
Please take a moment to read the information at the link below and feel free to contact Mr. Striby with any questions or concerns.
The Department of Transportation has begun work on the roundabout at Sherman Drive and Thompson Road, which limits access to Roncalli from the east. However, Thompson Road remains open to access Roncalli from the west. This construction/closure has created additional traffic congestion on McFarland Road and the south entrance to our campus. Families from St. Mark, St. Barnabas, Ss. Francis & Clare are strongly encouraged to use Madison Avenue, US 31, Meridian Street, or State Road 37/465 to access Thompson Road and come in the north entrance of our campus. There is minimal traffic using the north entrance so this will alleviate some stress and expedite your trip by using the north entrance.
