Two-hour delay on April 21 and April 28 for freshmen, juniors and seniors. All sophomores start at their regular time of 7:30 AM for the state mandated ISTEP testing (graduation requirement).
All current sophomores, juniors and seniors are required to pass the ISTEP as a part of their graduation requirement. The state does not provide us with the testing window for the administration of ISTEP until after the school year has started. Thus, we can never include the two hour delays necessitated by ISTEP testing in the school calendar that is provided to families prior to the start of a school year.
Learn More
Given the length of these tests and their importance to the students, we feel it best to utilize a delayed start for the rest of the school on two days and use this time for administering the ISTEP test to the sophomores. Thus, the following changes have been made to the school calendar:
We apologize for any inconvenience this causes our families but we feel strongly that this not only provides our students who are testing the best environment but also provides the best use of instructional time for all other students as well.

If you are interested, please email German teacher Louise Hibner.

Its purpose is to address the injustice that exists in that a family with two or more children can have one child eligible for a voucher but not another one. We would ask that you send the request below to your state senator. Feel free to include any personal information you wish to include such as the name of the school your child attends.

In partnership with Ascension St. Vincent, here is information that you might find useful.
More men and women die from lung cancer every year than any other cancer. The biggest risk factor for lung cancer is smoking, which causes 80 percent of all lung cancer deaths in women and 90 percent in men according to the American Lung Association.
But there are also little-known facts about risk factors and screenings for lung cancer that could potentially save your life:
Learn More
Even non-smokers can get lung cancer. While smoking is the biggest risk factor for lung cancer, even non-smokers are at risk for the disease. In fact, according to the American Cancer Society, up to 20 percent of people who die from lung cancer have never smoked a cigarette.
Second-hand smoke remains risky. Another major risk factor for non-smokers is secondhand smoke, which causes approximately 7,000 lung cancer deaths each year, according to the American Cancer Society. While laws that ban smoking in most workplaces and public places have helped decrease exposure to secondhand smoke, the risk remains because those laws can’t control what happens in private places.
Radon gas: No. 1 cause of lung cancer in non-smokers. The number one cause of lung cancer in non-smokers is exposure to radon gas, which accounts for approximately 21,000 lung cancer deaths annually, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Radon is an odorless, tasteless radioactive gas that is present both indoors and outdoors, according to the American Cancer Society. The only way to know if it’s a problem in your home is to have it tested.
Lung cancer screenings can help save lives. A low-dose CT lung scan is a screening method for lung cancer typically covered by insurance at no cost to the patient. Many people don’t realize that annual lung cancer screenings are available for high-risk patients. Lung cancer screening is effective but underutilized, according to the American Lung Association. In fact, only about 15 percent of the 8.6 million Americans eligible for lung cancer screenings are aware they should get them. A low-dose CT lung scan is the only screening tool that can reduce the risk of dying from lung cancer by catching it in its earlier stages, when it's more treatable.
