ISTEP CALENDAR CHANGES

Two-hour delay on April 21 and April 28 for freshmen, juniors and seniors. All sophomores start at their regular time of 7:30 AM for the state mandated ISTEP testing (graduation requirement).

All current sophomores, juniors and seniors are required to pass the ISTEP as a part of their graduation requirement. The state does not provide us with the testing window for the administration of ISTEP until after the school year has started. Thus, we can never include the two hour delays necessitated by ISTEP testing in the school calendar that is provided to families prior to the start of a school year.

Learn More

Given the length of these tests and their importance to the students, we feel it best to utilize a delayed start for the rest of the school on two days and use this time for administering the ISTEP test to the sophomores. Thus, the following changes have been made to the school calendar:

  • April 21 - School will start at 9:30 AM: All sophomores will report to school at the regular time of 7:30 AM.
  • April 28 - School will start at 9:30 AM; All sophomores will report to school at the regular time of 7:30 AM.

We apologize for any inconvenience this causes our families but we feel strongly that this not only provides our students who are testing the best environment but also provides the best use of instructional time for all other students as well.

PSAT RESULTS: FRESHMEN

This week all Freshmen who took the PSAT on October 30th received an email that their scores are finally available. In order for students to access their scores they must first create a College Board account. Students should also link their PSAT scores to Khan Academy. Instructions to create an account and link it to Khan Academy can be found here. Then go to khanacademy.org and create an account on Khan Academy or log onto your existing one. If you have questions, please see the Roncalli Guidance Blast for more information!

SPRING BREAK & MORATORIUM WEEK 2020

It could be seen as silly to talk about spring break and next year’s moratorium week but many of our families have to make travel arrangements well in advance for a variety of family related reasons. Spring Break will begin with the dismissal of school at 3:00 PM on Thursday, March 26. School will resume at 7:30 AM on Monday, April 6.

Learn More

To maintain the integrity of the school calendar and instructional time, Roncalli does not allow a family to extend Spring Break by leaving early or returning late without a significant academic penalty. For full details on the policy, please click on the link at the end of the newsletter. Thank you to our parents who have given us tremendous support of this policy through the years.

Additionally, as a member of the Indiana High School Athletic Association, Roncalli High School must adhere to the moratorium week requirements set forth by the association. The 2020 Moratorium Week for the summer of 2020 will be from June 29 - July 6. At Roncalli this means there will be no open gym/no open facilities, no practices, games, rehearsals, etc. There are to be no student activities at all during this week.
