Scheduling documents including Advanced Placement, 8 Classes, Student Media (Newspaper/Yearbook), and Central 9 Career Center applications are available online at www.roncalliregistration.org and are due Wednesday, January 15. Please review the scheduling packet that is sent home this week and continue to discuss your student’s interests as they carefully consider which courses to enroll next year.

During this presentation students received the proposed Master Schedule for the 2020-21 school year, this includes a listing of which period all classes will be offered. They were reminded to check that they meet the prerequisites for the courses they choose. Each student should determine if the courses they wish to take work without conflict on the Master Schedule. If the courses they are hoping to take do not fit on the Master Schedule, your student should see their counselor immediately so that adjustments can be made.
In order for your student to submit their online course request on February 1, they must first register for next school year and pay the $100 registration fee. Registration is now open.
Report cards were distributed to students in their eighth period class on Wednesday, January 8. Should you have any questions about a grade, please contact the classroom teacher first. Should questions still exist after that communication, please contact Mrs. Kathy Arruda, the Assistant Principal for Academics.
TODAY, January 10th, 2020 is the deadline to register for the National ACT Testing Day at Roncalli. Please go to act.org to register now!
Want to do all you can to prepare to take the ACT in February? Roncalli will host a ZAPS test prep seminar on January 22 and 23 right after school. ZAPS instructors are ACT test specialists. They're thoroughly trained in not only the topics covered in the ACT, but also on the ins and outs of taking the ACT test. Students who have taken the ZAPS seminars consistently improve their scores by 2-4 points and often more! Those points could be the difference makers when qualifying for and earning college scholarships! Visit the Doorway To College website to learn more and register for this invaluable strategy seminar!
Auditions for the spring play, “You Can’t Take It with You” will be held Tuesday, January 14 and Wednesday, January 15. Audition forms, tech forms and audition sign up sheets became available on January 6 outside the box office. Completed tech forms are due on Thursday, January 16 by 3:00 PM.
A reminder that Monday, January 20 (Martin Luther King Day) is scheduled as a free day on the school calendar but will be used as an E-learning/Snow make-up day should we have to cancel school for a day between now and then.
RSVP to Miss Peach. We need to know how many people are coming for set up. We will not turn anyone away though. We can’t wait to see you!
We have our own section of bleachers, and we have great seats! You will get third quarter off, just like the high school band kids, and you can get up to $5.00 in free food at the concession stand.
Games are usually over between 8:50 and 9:30 PM. It depends on the pace of the game, overtime, etc.
Come and join the Roncalli band and make some noise at the basketball game!
A sales representative from Awards America will be in the cafeteria on Thursday 1/30/2020 from 5-7 PM and during all lunch periods on Friday 1/31/2020 to take orders for all students interested in purchasing a Roncalli Award Jacket this year.

It could be seen as silly to talk about spring break and next year’s moratorium week but many of our families have to make travel arrangements well in advance for a variety of family related reasons. Spring Break will begin with the dismissal of school at 3:00 PM on Thursday, March 26. School will resume at 7:30 AM on Monday, April 6.
To maintain the integrity of the school calendar and instructional time, Roncalli does not allow a family to extend Spring Break by leaving early or returning late without a significant academic penalty. For full details on the policy, please click on the link at the end of the newsletter. Thank you to our parents who have given us tremendous support of this policy through the years.

Additionally, as a member of the Indiana High School Athletic Association, Roncalli High School must adhere to the moratorium week requirements set forth by the association. The 2020 Moratorium Week for the summer of 2020 will be from June 29 - July 6. At Roncalli this means there will be no open gym/no open facilities, no practices, games, rehearsals, etc. There are to be no student activities at all during this week.
