Register now for the ACT at Roncalli

ACT National Testing Day at Roncalli takes place on February 8th. Just as athletes prefer to play on their home court/field, test takers feel more at ease when testing at their own school. Don’t miss this opportunity to take the ACT on your “home court”!! There is a limited number of seats available at our location and the deadline to register is Friday, January 10th. Registration fees for the ACT are $52.00 without the essay portion and $68.00 with the essay. Are you eligible to take the ACT for free? Certain 11th- and 12th-grade students who meet income-based eligibility criteria may be able to apply for a fee waiver. Go to act.org today for more information and to register!

SPRING BREAK & MORATORIUM WEEK 2020

It could be seen as silly to talk about spring break and next year’s moratorium week but many of our families have to make travel arrangements well in advance for a variety of family related reasons. Spring Break will begin with the dismissal of school at 3:00 PM on Thursday, March 26. School will resume at 7:30 AM on Monday, April 6.

To maintain the integrity of the school calendar and instructional time, Roncalli does not allow a family to extend Spring Break by leaving early or returning late without a significant academic penalty. For full details on the policy, please click on the link at the end of the newsletter. Thank you to our parents who have given us tremendous support of this policy through the years.

Additionally, as a member of the Indiana High School Athletic Association, Roncalli High School must adhere to the moratorium week requirements set forth by the association. The 2020 Moratorium Week for the summer of 2020 will be from June 29 - July 6. At Roncalli this means there will be no open gym/no open facilities, no practices, games, rehearsals, etc. There are to be no student activities at all during this week.

4 Ways to Avoid Holiday Burnout

Burnout is a term often used to describe feelings of extreme stress. Sufferers of holiday burnout are often overwhelmed by the perceived extra demands and expectations associated with preparation for, and celebration of, the holiday season.

To help avoid holiday burnout, experts at Ascension St. Vincent offer the following stress management strategies:

Learn More

  1. Take Care of Yourself. The holiday season is full of hustle and bustle that can distract us from taking care of ourselves. Make your health a priority during the holidays. Make healthy food choices, limit any alcohol use and don’t forget to exercise. Even a 15-minute morning workout or brisk walk is better than not doing any exercise.
  2. Plan Ahead. Think first before committing to any responsibility or social event. Don't make any snap decisions and give yourself time to reflect on any proposed commitment or responsibility. You can always tell others you need to double-check your calendar before committing.
  3. Take a Break. It’s easy to overschedule ourselves during the holidays. That’s why it’s important to also schedule quality downtime to maintain balance in your life.
  4. Keep Things in Perspective. Many people often experience feelings of burnout because they place unrealistic expectations on themselves and others. Try to keep things in perspective during the holidays and remember what’s important to you.
