ASSEMBLY FOR SENIORS-RACHAEL’S FIRST WEEK

Today, members of the class of 2019 were blessed to participate in an assembly for seniors only in the RHS fine arts auditorium. The assembly was called Rachael’s First Week. The program was started by the family of Rachael Fiege after her tragic passing during the first week that she arrived on campus at IU in August of 2013. Rachael was a Zionsville High School graduate that was eager to begin her freshmen year at IU, but she died from falling down a flight of stairs after attending an off campus party.

Rachael’s first week on a college campus was her last week here on earth. Her death should not be viewed as a tragedy but as an opportunity for teens to develop their potential as friends, mentors and good citizens as they mature into adulthood. As a result, Rachael’s family and friends started Rachael’s First Week to educate young people about the dangers that they can encounter and how to watch out for each other as they navigate the challenges of moving from adolescence to adulthood. The assembly was interactive and seniors were encouraged to use their cell phone throughout the assembly as a way to answer and ask questions of the presenters.

To learn more about Rachael's First Week please go to www.rachaelsfirstweek.com

Please be sure to ask your senior about the assembly.
