The Marion County Public Health Department provides state mandated hearing screening services for all students in the 10th grade. The tests will take place on Monday, August 20th at Roncalli. If you DO NOT want your child to have their hearing tested, please fill out and send in the linked form prior to Monday, August 20th.
Auditions for the musical, “Guys and Dolls” will be held Monday, August 20 and Wednesday, August 22. Audition packets, tech forms and sign ups will be available outside the box office beginning August 13. Any questions can be directed to Phil Anderson, the director of Theatre Education. The musical will be performed November 15, 16 and 17.
A required freshman parent meeting was instituted ten years ago primarily as a means to establish or insure some “common ground” between our parents as primary educators and Roncalli as secondary educators. The meetings have received positive reviews from parents. Any parent/guardian of a freshman who previously has not had a freshman child at Roncalli needs to attend one of these Required Freshman Parents meetings.
There are four opportunities for parents to attend one of these meetings. The dates are: August 23, 29, September 4 and September 18. The meetings begin at 7:00 PM in the school’s auditorium and will end promptly at 8:30 PM.
NOTE: Parents who have had a freshman student previously at Roncalli are not required to attend one of these meetings. Failure to attend one of these meetings will result in the student not being allowed to stay at Roncalli for the second semester of the school year.

We would like to invite all South Deanery parents and families to attend the showing of "SCREENAGERS: Growing Up in the Digital Age." On August 21st & 22nd at 7 PM, we will show the hour long documentary followed by a half hour panel discussion with experts from a variety of fields in the Roncalli Auditorium. SCREENAGERS provides a personal view of how technology impacts the development of children and offers solutions to parents for navigating the digital world.
Roncalli's Annual Canned Food Drive will take place from August 27-31. Non-perishable food items and monetary donations will benefit St. Vincent de Paul, Catholic Charities, Hunger Inc., and the David Moore Food Pantry. This is an earlier spot on the calendar, with the hope that it will provide an influx of donations to these organizations at a time of the year when donations tend to slow down.
Donations will be accepted in the main lobby from 6:50-7:20 AM and 3:10-3:40 PM each day (excluding the afternoon of Friday, August 31). Outside of those times, donations can be dropped off in the main office. Click here to learn more.
Students and staff who donate at least $35 or 70 cans will receive out-of-uniform privileges for the rest of the week. So the earlier donations are made, the more out-of-uniform days can be earned!

The Roncalli High School Guidance Department will host a college planning night on Monday, August 27, 2018, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM that is open to all interested students and parents, grades 9-12. This program is very well received each year and is an excellent time to learn more about university admissions and programs!
Representatives from multiple post-secondary institutions will be present to share information on their academic programs, life on campus, and how to apply for admission and financial assistance. A full list of universities attending will be made available in the August 23 Guidance BLAST.

In the student’s Rebel Day Planner, the early dismissal days are printed on that date. Usually, the early dismissal date is the first Thursday of each month. This past week it was on Thursday due to the Back to School Night event. Please have your student look at their planner to confirm the early dismissal dates. The next early dismissal date is Thursday, September 6th, at 2 PM.
We will celebrate our annual Grandparents Day liturgy on Friday, October 12. A reminder that due to space limitations only grandparents of sophomore, junior and senior students are invited to this celebration. If you have a sophomore, junior and/or senior student and would like their grandparents to receive an invitation please contact Lora Mascari in the president’s office at 787-8277, extension 231. Please know if you have a junior or senior student at RHS and their grandparents were invited last year they will receive an invitation this year automatically.

A mailing went out to all families that have an approved State Voucher for the 2018/19 school year. If you received this mailing, please sign and return the two green forms and your voucher will be secured for this school year.

The Nutrition & Wellness class is seeking donations of items for the new classroom. The class is now held in the Providence House, the former residence of the Sisters of Providence on LaSalle Street. This year’s Walkathon date has been changed to Wednesday, October 31st, Halloween! (the rain date is scheduled for November 2nd) Walkathon is the only all school fundraiser in which Roncalli students are asked to participate. Every dollar raised through Walkathon funds provides needs-based tuition assistance for Roncalli families. We apologize for any inconvenience in the date change.
Every morning before school in the cafeteria, the snack bar window is open, and Mrs. Supple is glad to serve you breakfast! A breakfast has an entree, fruit serving and a milk for $2.00. If you qualify for free lunch, your breakfast is also free, or if you qualify for reduced lunch, your breakfast costs $.30. There are many delicious and healthy items to choose from, so please come down from 6:50 AM-7:30 AM and start your day off right! This institution is an equal opportunity provider.

Roncalli High School provides bus transportation for student athletes, fine arts activities, extracurricular club outings and field trips. In addition, RHS buses are used by our South Deanery Catholic grade schools for their field trips and school activities. We are currently in need of more class B CDL licensed bus drivers. What is a Rebel VIP member card? A Rebel VIP member card is a pass that gets you and your immediate family into any home athletic event free of charge (regular season games only; IHSAA tournament and Marion County tournament games are excluded). This fall, Indy Junior Rebels Lacrosse (Roncalli Lacrosse’s feeder program) will be hosting the first ever southside Fall league! Registration is open and will close on August 31st. Visit jrrebellax.com for the registration.

When: Season will run from mid-August to early October
Format: 3v3 or more, based on team numbers. Small goals and sticks will be used, along with soft lacrosse balls. This league will focus on the basics of lacrosse while having fun with other students from your schools.
Practices will be held twice a week with games held on Saturdays at Roncalli High School. There will be a season finale tourney on Saturday, October 6th. Cost: just $40 per athlete and this will include a t-shirt to keep.
Coaches: coaches will be members of the high school teams, trained by IJR staff with practice plans for each session. We will need a parent point person for each team to be present at every practice and game, in case of emergencies.
